Jon Krakauer is the author of eight books, including Into the Wild, Into Thin Air, Under the Banner of Heaven, Where Men Win Glory, and Missoula. Into Thin Air was a finalist for the 1998 Pulitzer Prize in General Nonfiction. His work has appeared in publications such as National Geographic, Rolling Stone, The New Yorker, The Washington Post, and The New York Times. Krakauer received a 1999 Academy Award in Literature from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, recognizing his blend of investigative journalism and literary skill. He currently serves as board chair of the American Himalayan Foundation. He graduated from Hampshire College in 1976.
