Jill Jonnes is an author known for exploring the histories and dynamics of cities, particularly through the lens of urbanization, technology, and the natural world. She is the author of South Bronx Rising, Empires of Light, Conquering Gotham, Eiffel's Tower, and URBAN FORESTS. A National Endowment for the Humanities scholar, Jonnes also founded the non-profit Baltimore Tree Trust and leads the Baltimore City Forestry Board's initiative, Baltimore's Flowering Tree Trails.
