John Craig Wheeler is an American astronomer and the Samuel T. and Fern Yanagisawa Regents Professor of Astronomy Emeritus at the University of Texas at Austin. He is recognized for his theoretical contributions to the understanding of supernovae. A past president and Fellow of the American Astronomical Society, he is also a Fellow of the American Physical Society.
