Chris Rainier is a documentary photographer, filmmaker, and National Geographic Society Explorer known for his documentation of endangered cultures and traditional languages globally. Awarded the Lowell Thomas Award by the Explorers Club and elected a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, Rainier is the founder and director of The Cultural Sanctuaries Foundation. He has published six books, including Keepers of the Spirit, Where Masks still Dance: New Guinea, and MASK.
